In the prologue of Carmen Maria Machado’s edited version of the novella; Carmilla it eludes that Carmilla and Laura were based off of real people in Le fanu’s life. Laura or Veronica Hausle corresponded with Le fanu writting of meeting “Carmilla” or Marica Maren. A woman who she claims she meet in her dreams prior to meeting in life. Veronika is said to have actually been as infatuated with Marica as she was with her. this directly inspired Le fanus work although many adjustments were made to make the story a horror and fictional.

My first real introduction to Dracula was from Bram Stoker's Dracula novel when I found it in 2021, but since I'm not a great reader, I listened to the audio book from Audible. I fell in love with it. Each character is voiced by a different person, and when a character is quoting someone, they adapt said person's manor of speech (listening to Mina talk like Van Helsing or Quincey is quite fun). Or how this newly formed group of friends are always supporting and up lifting each other, its really charming and heart warming. I just finished my second listen this October, and I love it even more. However I am excited to venture into the world of Dracula and Vampires that you have helped open the doors to, even if I'm scared of finding information that might hurt my love for his novel. Thank you!

I actually really loved Hansel n Gretel witch hunters I was actually secretly hoping for a sequel but only if the 2 original leads were in it. It was silly but I loved the action n tht they took a diff. Route. Like they weren’t these lil kids somewhat defenseless, they were kick ass. N 1 just happened to have witchy genes flowing thru her veins. I kinda think this 1, somewhat inspired Gretel & Hansel 2020. especially with the plot focusing much more now on Gretel having a talent for magic etc. I really really loved that one, stylistically it’s the best & the storyline I also appreciated because u got to know abit about who the witch was in her younger years. Why she became what she became, which is what most Hansel n Gretel movies miss out in telling. It was nice to kno she was a somewhat “typical “ human being who loved n lost. N had a shitty evil egotistical kid that she believed was from the very depths of hell, so it’s like she vanquished her evil child n then became evil. But we only had her say on what actually happened with their mother child relationship. But I loved this, tho I’m like a year late Lolol ❤❤

The Lost Boys and Near Dark was basically released at the same time, but it was because of the horrendous marketing of the later that made it less known that the former. I love The Lost Boys but my taste in horror-spiced 80's violence are much closer to that of Near Dark(haven't watched it in it's totality) and I really want to watch The Hunger. 🦇

The thing with people saying, “the thrift stores around me are no good” is realizing you have to visit them OFTEN …I mean very OFTEN and be patient. Don’t go with expectations. Go with an open mind. Be willing to edit things. Eventually you’ll probably find things you’ll may never part with.
